 Ned will discuss the simple model used to understand the atmospheric blockings**.**

 During the discussion, Ned will introduce the following points:

 1. local wave activity index that diagnoses blocking events

 2. time evolution of the LWA index and its relationship with jet dynamics

 3. analogy between atmospheric blocking and traffic jams
